The Illinois Urban Manual is a technical reference for those involved in the inspecting and/or installing Best Management Practices (BMPs) for soil and erosion control on construction sites in the state of Illinois. The manual has been put together and updated by the state of Illinois and the public. The state entity includes the following public agencies representing the entire State of Illinois: AISWCD, IEPA, Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs), Illinois Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Land & Water Resources (IDA-BLWR), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), United States Army Corp of Engineers Chicago District (USACE), and United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS).
The Illinois Urban Manual is a changing document and is updated when new drawings and standards are reviewed by the State. That is why it is imperative to stay up to date with constant changing BMP specifications in order to stay in compliance. When Earthworks is preforming inspections on your construction site, the Urban Manual is used as the guide. All BMPs on-site are cross-referenced to the specifications laid out in the Illinois Urban Manual.
